Department of Pharmacognosy encompasses one of the best labs of KCP.

The laboratory of Pharmacognosy consist of a number of crude drug samples and their monographs which provide information regarding the natural drugs, their identification, cultivation, collection, preparation, chemical constituents, uses, identification tests, determination of possible adulterants and the detection of the same.

Many crude drug specimens, demonstration charts are available in the laboratory in order to make the students to understand organoleptic, macroscopic, microscopic, chemical and pharmacological characteristics of those drugs obtained from natural sources.

Modern methods like chromatography and spectrometry are also studied for existing and new natural products. The infrastructure of the Department includes all the facilities for isolation, characterization and estimation of phyto-constitutents.The Department is also well equipped to carry out tissue culture studies. The lab is well equipped with extraction assemblies. Additionally all necessary equipments and instruments are available for herbal drug and pharmacobotanical research in the department. It is well equipped with high quality scientific instruments. The herbal drug museum, a well maintained medicinal garden and separate research laboratory for post graduate students and practical labs for UG students are available.
